Capitol façade

The House of Representatives is taking up the amended continuing resolution that the Senate passed on Monday evening.

House Speaker Mike Johnson called members of the House back to Washington as the upper chamber of Congress indicated it was nearing a funding agreement to reopen the government. President Donald Trump is expected to sign the temporary funding legislation soon after it is passed by the House.

The justices of the Supreme Court are hearing oral arguments in three related cases today. They will consider the circuit court split decisions regarding the reduction of sentences and compassionate release by district courts for “extraordinary and compelling reasons,“ and the U.S. Sentencing Commission’s authority to define such circumstances.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the House as they deliberate over the temporary funding legislation that will reopen the government.
  • For President Trump to receive the Lord’s wisdom as he prepares to sign the resolution.
  • For the justices of the Supreme Court to be prudent as they hear the arguments surrounding sentence reductions and compassionate release.
